Miller’s passion for radio and sports began when he was very young. On the playground, he would mimic announcers and do play-by-play for his friends not knowing that it would lead to a career. After high school, he studied journalism at Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts, on the way to earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications. Upon graduation, he was hired as a disc jockey at WILD-AM in Boston, matriculated to WEBB-AM in Baltimore, Maryland, and eventually settled into the morning drive slot at WAMO-FM in Pittsburgh, PA. A few years later, he made a smooth transition from music to sports radio as an anchor for SBN Sports. During his tenure, Miller has grown from part-time contributor, to starter, to leader of the American Urban Radio Networks sports division. His daily schedule includes writing, producing and broadcasting national sports reports. He’s also the host of the longest running Black College Football show in the nation; Black College Football Weekly. The show has received an award from the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ). Miller’s dedication to his craft has improved the network’s coverage and positioned SBN Sports as the nation’s premiere source for Black College Football (BCF) information. In preparation for the BCAA Awards, Miller tracks the entire season from national signing day in February to the crowning of a champion in December. He also coordinates the weekly SBN Top Ten Black College Football Poll, is the lead man in the selection of the BCAA Team, executive producer of the BCAA’s football films, and publisher/editor of the BCAA Journal (now online at www.aurn.com). In addition to being Director of Sports for American Urban Radio Networks, Miller freelances as a radio/TV play-by-play announcer, most recently for the Howard University Football Network. His wife, Arleen, has provided support throughout his career and they are the proud parents of Veronica, Ty and Kelsey. |
