April Ryan

April Ryan, a 20-year journalism veteran, is American Urban Radio Networks (AURN) White House correspondent and Washington Bureau Chief. Along with her daily responsibilities at the White House and elsewhere in DC, Ryan hosts the daily feature program, The White House Report. The White House Report is broadcast to AURN’s nearly 475 affiliate stations nationwide.

Prior to joining AURN, Ryan worked for radio stations in Baltimore. One of the stations was WXYV-FM, where she was news director. Over the past 9 years, Ryan has conducted one-on-one interviews with President George W. Bush, First Lady Laura Bush, former President Bill Clinton, Mrs. Hillary Clinton, and former Vice President Al Gore. She has traveled extensively while at the White House. Most recently, April Ryan traveled aboard Air Force One and exclusively interviewed President and Mrs. Bush while traveling to the Gulf Coast for the one year anniversary of the devastating Hurricane Katrina. In September 2005, Ryan flew to Haiti to report on a visit Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice made along with a number of dignitaries. Ryan has gone to Africa as AURN's White House correspondent on presidential missions with President George W. Bush, former President Bill Clinton and former Vice President Al Gore.

Many of her exclusive stories have been featured in newscasts on ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN and FOX television networks. Ryan is regularly seen on the Art Fennel Reports Show on Comcast Cable channel CN-8 discussing stories she has reported on AURN.

In 1997, Ryan was named one of the Outstanding Young Women in America. In 2004 Ryan was named an American Swiss Foundation Young Leader. Ryan, a Baltimore native, is a graduate of Morgan State University and resides in her hometown with her husband and four year old daughter.
