Smithsonian Wants Trayvon's Hoodie

(AURN) -- The hoodie Trayvon Martin was wearing when he was gunned down by former neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman could become part of a permanent exhibit at the soon to open National Museum of African American History.

 

 

 

 

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Saying Trayvon Martin’s hoodie has become a nationwide symbol following his fatal shooting, Lonnie Bunch, the director of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History wants  the original.

Mr. Bunch, told The Washington Post,
the hoodie Mr. Martin’s was wearing the
night of his death represents a unique opportunity
to further the discussion about race in America."  
Mr. Bunch will seek to acquire the hoodie for his collection after the Justice Department finishes its civil rights investigation.

The National Museum of African American History and Culture is set to open in 2015 and will display objects related to the Civil Rights Movement.
