(AURN) -- While Republican Senator John McCain has voiced support for U.S. plans for military intervention in Syria, Congress is holding its first public hearing on the matter today.
Members of the Obama administration will try to convince lawmakers and skeptical Americans about the need to respond to last month's alleged sarin gas attack on civilians outside Damascus.
Secretary of State John Kerry, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel and other top officials appear before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee today.
