Corey Booker Wins NJ Senate Seat

(AURN) -- Newark Mayor Corey Booker is a rising star in the Democratic party and once he is sworn in, will become the first Black Senator from New Jersey. Senator-Elect Booker won in a special election Wednesday over Republican Steven Lonagan.

Booker is the first African-American elected to the U.S. Senate since Barack Obama in 2004.

Booker took to twitter to thank his supporters:
