(AURN/AP) -- On January 15th, another 19-billion dollars in sequester cuts kick in unless Congress comes to terms on a new federal budget by December 13th.

Speaking about budget issues this week, House Speaker John Boehner says a deal "won't happen" if Democrats keep insisting on more tax increases. Democrats are fighting against those automatic cuts which dig into vital domestic programs.

California Congresswoman Barbara Lee spoke with AURN's Kim Lampkins about what she called 'slow progress' on budget negotiations, House Speaker John Boehner's refusal to present jobs bills and more.
