(AURN) -- The bipartisan ONE Campaign is working to end extreme global poverty.  This week, officials from ONE are at the annual ONE Power Summit in Washington, D.C. to meet with legislators on Capitol Hill and lobby for continued support for American foreign assistance programs.

The Electrify Africa Act, will be a key topic at the Power Summit. Along with President Obama’s Power Africa plan, the bill is primed to transform Africa by providing universal energy access to rural and urban areas of the continent for the first time. Currently, 7 out of 10 people in Africa lack access to reliable electricity. That’s nearly 600 million people.
