(AURN/AP) -- The late 1990's rap group N.W.A stirred up a lot of controversy with it's music.  Now its the group's biopic's turn.

Universal Pictures is making a movie about the iconic rap group and a casting call for the film is creating controversy, with many on the Internet calling racist.

The casting company put out an open call, on Facebook, seeking women for the movie "Straight Outta Compton" in four categories:

A GIRLS: These are the hottest of the hottest. Models. MUST have real hair - no extensions, very classy looking, great bodies. You can be black, white, asian, hispanic, mid eastern, or mixed race too...
B GIRLS: These are fine girls, long natural hair, really nice bodies. Small waists, nice hips. You should be light-skinned...
C GIRLS: These are African American girls, medium to light skinned with a weave...
D GIRLS: These are African American girls. Poor, not in good shape. Medium to dark skin tone...

After the casting call listing was skewered by Gawker.com, Universal apologized for what it called the "offensive" listing. And while the casting company has removed the announcement from its Facebook page - its web site still says it is handling the casting for extras for the movie.

According to TMZ, in an interview with a rep for Sande Alessi Casting; they said... the ad was an "innocent mistake" -- and when it comes to casting the "poor" people, they're also looking for women of various skin tones and body types.

The film, "Straight Outta Compton" is reportedly set to hit theaters next August 15.
